PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project management is the process of planning, organizing, directing and controlling the project to achieve a specific goal. This process aims to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and in accordance with established quality standards. The basic components of project management generally include:
Project Definition and Scope: It is the process of determining what the project is, what goals will be achieved, and the boundaries of the project.
Planning: Timelines, budgets, and resource requirements are established as you determine how you will execute the project process. At this stage, tasks are separated using tools such as work breakdown structure.
Resource Management: Determining the manpower, material and financial resources required for the project and using them effectively.
Risk Management: Possible risks that may be encountered during the project process are identified, analyzed and strategies are developed against these risks.
Communication Management: Creating the necessary plans to ensure effective communication and information with project stakeholders.
Monitoring and Control: It is the process of checking the progress of the project, how close the set goals are, and taking corrective actions if necessary.
Completion and Evaluation: When the project is completed, project results are evaluated, lessons learned are drawn, and the project is closed.
There are various methods and approaches used in project management; these include the traditional waterfall model, agile methods and hybrid approaches. Each has advantages and disadvantages, and which method to use may vary depending on project characteristics.
Project management is often supported by legislation, standards and certifications.
